How to Make Your Laptop Battery Longlasting

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2010

This are some tips that you can use to make your battery long-lasting. As we know those 2-3 years usage of lithium battery can dramatically reduce its life. But, we can do something about it to make your battery better

life after 2-3 year usage.

1. If you near power supply, connect your laptop to the power supply and don’t use laptop battery. Unplug your battery. Recharge all the time makes your battery’s performance down dramatically.

2. Recharge only when your laptop battery is really low. Disconnect it when fully charged. Sometimes we forget to disconnect the battery, and that what make your battery’s performance down. Please spend a little minute to check are your battery fully charge or not, if so disconnect it.

3. Don’t expose your battery with high temperature. It makes the dell latitude e6500 battery performance down so dramatically. Don’t expose it with bright sunlight and place your battery near fire or any other thing which has temperature above 50 degree celcius.

4. Cut down usage of external device such as flash disk, usb modem, iPod and other. Those devices drain your dell xps m1330 battery power fast. Quickly disconnect it when you have done use your device.

5. Shut down useless program running on background. You know that any program add more load to CPU and so drain more battery power and battery life. Shut down any useless program like iTunes, winamp, desktop search, other. Run only important program.

6. I would suggest for adding your RAM memory. As long as I know adding your RAM means allow more processing to your laptop. And it means less usage of your virtual memory which drains more power. Also if you add more RAM memory you can process anything faster and you will happy. Who like to wait anyway?

7. Read the tips number 1 and I bet you will disconnect your vgp-bps9/s battery for a long time. That would be bad too. A dell studio 1537 battery need to exercise after a long disconnect period. This time allow your battery supply your laptop by unplug your power supply.

8. Sleep to much make your laptop’s health worse, and also the battery. Please choose hibernate rather than sleep. Hibernate actually make your laptop in near shut down state. It would save a lot of hp pavilion dv4 battery power less than sleep.

how long your HP laptop battery will last

Posted by admin on October 20th, 2010

Knowing how long your HP laptop battery will last is probably the most common question asked by the HP notebook customer. There are many contributing factors to a long battery life and maximum runtime. HP does an excellent job of providing information about the notebooks, and at Cheapbatteryshop.co.uk, we also realize the importance of knowing all the information possible regarding your HP laptop replacement battery.

Average hp laptop battery run time is 1 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours depending on what applications you are running. Functions that require more power will deplete your laptop battery faster. Viewing a DVD or using your CD player to play and record music are power intensive functions and will consume power at a faster rate. Also different notebooks use more power than others. Most laptops have a power management control panel where power use can be reduced while on battery power, such as reducing the brightness of your LCD screen. External batteries can also be purchased to provided extended power.

The HP Pavilion DV4 battery has a certain number of charge cycles that it has before it is no longer able to hold a charge. This number is somewhere between 200-500 cycles. One charge cycle is when your battery is fully charged, then fully discharged until it goes to sleep and then fully charged again. The reason that the amount of cycles varies significantly is because how you care for your HP laptop battery and where you use it also affects the life of the battery.

Heat is something that is bad for your hp dv5 battery and will shorten its life. Try to avoid leaving your battery in the sun, or in a hot car, or any environment that will cause the battery to heat up. There are also things you can do to maximize your runtime of your HP pavilion dv5 battery. Programs such as Photoshop, games with high graphics, DVD’s, burning of CD’s and DVD’s, and other high processing programs all drain your battery faster. When these programs are not in use, turn them off for increased runtime. For more tips on how to care for your replacement HP laptop battery

Here is something recommend:1.Store Li-Ion batteries between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F) with 30% to 50% charge.

2.Do not leave batteries exposed to high temperatures for extended periods. Prolonged exposure to heat (for example, inside a hot car) will accelerate the deterioration of Li-Ion cells.

3.Remove the battery if the notebook will be stored (turned off and not plugged into laptop ac adapter ) for more than 2 weeks.

4.Remove the battery if the notebook will be plugged into hp PPP012L-S adapter continuously (via a wall adapter or docking station) for more than 2 weeks.

There is no conditioning that is required with the pavilion dv4 battery, but we recommend calibrating your battery regularly to ensure an accurate fuel gauge. The fuel gauge tells you how much runtime you have left before it is time to charge your battery. Calibrating your battery is the process of fully charging your battery, then fully discharging it, and then fully charging it again. Doing this every few months allows the computer to communicate with the battery so the reading is accurate. Yet, if you are someone who consistently charges your battery, then uses it until it dies, there is no need to calibrate it since you are doing it all the time.

Can I Keep My HP Adapter Plugged In

“Can I keep my adapter plugged in all the time?” This is a question we hear a lot from our customers and many people have different ideas on the proper answer. Some believe if you keep your laptop plugged into the laptop ac adapter for too long, it can harm the battery. Others believe keeping the laptop plugged in will actually help preserve the battery. So, will keeping a laptop plugged in all the time ruin the battery? “Should you run a laptop battery down every now and then?” Here’s what we’ve found while researching the issue.

Laptops almost exclusively use lithium ion batteries

. These batteries are not susceptible to the memory effect that some older batteries suffer from. So the first thing you should know is that you do not have to run the laptop battery all the way down and charge it all the way back up every time you use it. These batteries are designed to withstand irregular charging habits that often accompany the use of portable electronics. When these batteries became widely used in laptops, the laptop manufacturers began building the batteries and hp pavilion dv5 adapters such that, after the hp pavilion dv4 battery is completely charged, it stops taking a charge and the electric current from the adapter runs directly to the laptop to power it. This means that keeping the laptop plugged in all the time will not overcharge the battery. In fact, many manufacturers encourage users to keep the laptop plugged in as much as possible. This is because the battery will run down more, as in lose overall usability, the more the battery is relied on to power the computer.

This is where it may get a little confusing. Some people who keep their computer plugged in for a very long time try to use battery power at some point only to find that the battery does not last nearly as long as it originally did. The tendency is to place the blame on overcharging the battery, but we’ve covered the reasons why this probably not the case. What has actually happened in most cases is that the hp pavilion dv5 battery, as all rechargeable batteries do, has simply lost some of its runtime as a result of its age. This is an inevitable fate of any laptop battery and the battery should be replaced if runtime is no longer satisfactory. There is little you can do to prevent this, so some people prefer to use the battery as often as possible to get their money’s worth before it dies completely.

So don’t worry about keeping your computer plugged into the hp pavilion dv4 adapter as long as you need to. In fact, it may be useful to have an extra AC adapter somewhere in your house or office to allow more portability without relying on the battery. If your hp dv5 battery has lost a significant amount of runtime as a result of the conditions detailed above, consider purchasing a replacement laptop battery to take back your portability when using AC power is not an option.

How to Maximize HP Laptop Battery Life

There are actions you can take to make your laptop battery last longer during each charge cycle and live longer over many cycles. HP 530 battery always recommends following the instructions for charging and storage that came with the battery or notebook. On this page we offer additional suggestions to help you get the most from your portable power supply.

Steps:

1. Manage battery power more effectively in Windows.

2. Make sure your battery gives the power you need, when you need it. Power Options in Windows XP allow you to control the power management features of your notebook PC. 3. Learn more about the Power Options in Windows by visiting Microsoft’s support site: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/russel_02march35.mspx

5. Reduce the brightness of the screen to the minimum readable level. Use the Fn and F7 or F8 keys to adjust the brightness.

6. Remove peripherals when not in use. External hard drives, CD-ROMs, Zip drives, PC cards, and other peripheral devices can draw power from your battery even when they are not in active use. Disconnect them when you have finished using them.

7. Reduce the speed of your processor. The faster your computer works, the more quickly it uses up the supply of power. By cutting down on processor speed, you can extend the charge of your HP HSTNN-W50C Battery. Methods to reduce processor speed vary from model to model, and your manual should provide instructions for doing so.

8. Turn off the Wireless On-Off button when it is not in use. If your notebook has one, press the Wireless On-Off button so that the light turns off.

Dell Inspiron 1525 battery Description:

Type: Li-ion,9 cells

Voltage: 11.1V

Capacity: 6600MAH

Color: Black

Unit dimension:

209.40 x 71.80 x 19.80m

My notebook came with a laptop battery and does not last very long. I purchased a 9 cell battery at Amazon.com to give it a try. And it was much cheaper than ordering one from other laptop battery sources! So far it works great and it lasts much longer than the 6 cell! As long as you follow the instructions, it works just like the add says. My notebook went from lasting about 2 hours on the 6 cell battery and the 9 cell battery lasts up to 4 hours plus! You can’t beat it for the price!

Arrived really quick and good packaging.

This battery works wonders and has helped me actually use my laptop like it was before the original battery started deteriorating.

It gives me about 4hrs 30 min on routine function without video. With video it comes down to 3 hrs which is quite acceptable. Charging time is approximately 120 minutes from 10% to 100%.

Be sure to get the “RoHs” battery featured here. I purchased a 9 cell inspiron 1525 battery from another seller at about the same time as this 9 cell battery. This one holds a 3 hour 40 minute (plus time to spare) charge (I tested with media player playing the first half the time and a backup running the second half – no idle time) and the other barely gets past 2 hours. HUGE difference. Also the other battery gets warm – not this one. Nice! I highly recommend this product.

As for the seller, the shipping time was fast and the price is decent, esp for what you’re getting (it’s like two thirds cheaper than buying direct from Dell if I’m not mistaken).

Pros:

1. Cheaper than Dell original.

2. Lightweight

Cons:

-none right now.

I ordered this laptop battery to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 1525 from its now-dead 6-cell dell inspiron 15 battery. Much to my dismay, the first battery I received from this seller didn’t work, but when I contacted them, they responded within the next day and said I could return the battery with the return slip included in the package. Once they received my return, the replacement was mailed almost instantly (I forgot to mention that the first battery they mailed me arrived within a day of when I placed my order– and came from California to Maryland). The second arrived just as quickly, and it works wonderfully. I am well pleased with the replacement, and was glad that the return was so easy!
