dell laptop battery not charging

Posted by admin on December 14th, 2011

i use an dell inspiron 15r. It shows the amount of charge remaining (4%) but it is not charging. The two lights at the front just wont stop blinking. Normally one is for power and it does not blink. When I turn off the laptop and plug in the dell battery charger, the charging LED blinks twice and then hangs without going off. The charger works fine because I can use it. Though the jack pin for charging is always loose so I have to hold it some way for to charge.

Shut down the laptop with the dell latitude e5400 battery in and plugged in.

Remove the battery.

Reboot the machine.

I waited for Vista to come up and show the power icon.

I then reinstalled the laptop battery.

if It still said Plugged in Not charging.pls try the list solution

If you can run your laptop with just the battery, that means the dell latitude e5400 charger is damaged.

If you can run your laptop with just the charger, that means the battery is damaged.

Either way you would need a new replacement laptop battery to solve your problem.

You can look online on sites like ebay or amazon but I would personally suggest you visit batterywood instead.

asus laptop battery won’t charge

Posted by admin on November 30th, 2011

Qeustion:

“I have read here and there on superuser and it looks like I could have:

Faulty recharge circuitry

Faulty asus eee pc 1005ha battery

Faulty asus ac adapter

How can I be sure to change the right part?

The netbook is an Asus Eee PC 1005 and it looks like it has no calibration tool in bios. The asus eee cp 1005ha battery died from a day to another (last week it lasted 5 hours, now 0 seconds). The netbook works if I connect the powerplug and battery but as soon as I disconnect the powerplug it dies: laptop battery won’t last a single second.

Battery led is blinking like if it is charging. I’ve tried 2 different operating systems (windows 7 and ubuntu) and I get the same result: Battery in charge: 0% even charging for many hours. I think (if I’m lucky) that I’ll get the change to test a friend’s asus power adapter during this week end but I still have no clues.

Asus offered me the chance to repair the netbook under warranty but if they find out that parts are not faulty I’m gonna pay money so I want to be sure that something is really broken and I also have the horror they’ll keep the netbook for a month, scratch it, lose data (I’ll backup it, I know) and other sad things so if I’m sure to solve buying a new battery I’d happily do it… I just want to be sure not to waste money.

Solution 1: Since all of the parts are from Asus it is Asus hardware that is at fault. In this situation, I wouldn’t even test he parts individually. Asus is better equipped to test for what is wrong then you are. Just make sure to do the basic troubleshooting steps given to you by Asus support. They can certify that it is not operator error and help you process the warranty service.

I would always expect that laptop warranty service to take upwards of a month. Always ask the service rep for an expected timetable to replacement/repair. Ask if they can send you a replacement laptop battery once they verify the problem. That is the fastest way to get a system back.

Always backup your data before sending out your system and always delete any personal data on the laptop. While the techs probably don’t care what is on there, you never know.

Solution 2:

Since the notebook works when plugged in, I would think it is not the asus power adapter.

The adapter is the easiest component to test in isolation. Use a Volt-ohmmeter and see if it is putting out as much DC voltage as it says on the boilerplate.

By using different operating systems, you seem to have reduced the likelihood of faulty software.

Can you swap out your battery with a friend’s Asus laptop battery? Or buy a cheap replacement asus eee pc 1005 battery online? That would eliminate “Faulty Battery.” An extra Asus UX50V Battery would come in handy and you will probably need to replace it before your HDD goes.

If it’s still under warranty, by all means, send it in and let Asus diagnose.”

Customer Review for this dell laptop battery:

Purchased this the replace the battery on my son’s year and a half old Inspiron 1750 – I was very disappointed that the battery decided to die months after the warranty period was up! But so far this replacement dell inspiron 1750 battery is working very well, and she really likes that the ridge along the building works as a “stand”.

This product was shipped super fast and when it arrived I was anxious to see how it would work. The product worked amazing and it is exactly what I was looking for. The sucker in the package was a funny and unique little touch. Thanks again for the great service and product.

although this was not the inspiron 1750 battery that my Inspiron 1750 came with, that this would be the best replacement dell laptop battery. And I couldn’t agree more, it’s been fantastic for the first few weeks. I can only hope that its lifetime isn’t as short as my original battery was- only 14 months, just barely over the warranty.

Acer Aspire One D255 Laptop and Battery Review

Posted by admin on October 26th, 2011

The Aspire One D255’s 10.1-inch, LED-backlit screen is one of its best features. We were always impressed by how clear, sharp, and bright this 1,024×600 screen was, regardless of what it was displaying. Above the screen, embedded in the bezel, is a built-in Webcam. It’s capable of 1,280×1,024 resolution with the included Acer Crystal Eye software, but it doesn’t perform well in low light, and the colors it returns are dull. One thing to note: While it seems odd to have a Webcam with a higher resolution than the screen itself, remember that the image is being sent at the Webcam’s resolution(aspire one d255 battery), not the screen’s. If the person you are video-chatting with has a higher-res screen, they’ll benefit from this Webcam.

As noted earlier on, you can get this Aspire One model with a three-cell or a six-cell acer aspire one d255 battery, rated for four or eight hours of runtime, respectively. We tested the six-cell version. Perhaps the battery could have gotten something approaching eight hours under normal use, but our battery-rundown test is a more extreme challenge, forcing the tested computer to stream full-screen video via its Wi-Fi connection until it drops. This is a worst-case laptop battery scenario, and the Aspire One lasted for 3 hours and 51 minutes under this trial. That’s just a little under the category average of 4:07. By comparison, the Gateway LT2120u endured for an exceptional 5:24.

The Acer Aspire One D255 may not be the best looking netbook around, and the addition of the Android operating system isn’t as useful as you might think. On a more positive note, however, the dual-core processor does bring a welcome boost in performance, and costs little more than most single-core rivals — as such, it’s easy to recommend.

Acer Aspire One D255 Battery life

Listen to 11 hours after a large run-time with a dual-core Atom. These 660 minutes you reach the D255 and Acer Aspire 5920 battery, but only in neutral with the lowest brightness and wireless inactive. It is relevant to the practice of wireless test with very good time of 6:35. This is even more than the N455 single-core variant reached Aspire One 533 (5:49 pm). Last therefore has a acer AOD255e battery of 49 White with 4,400 mAh.

D255 leads to the Aspire One Performance Plus € 349 (61% CPUBenchmark, 18% of total production) and at least an equivalent term (wireless surfing hours 6:35) as a single-core N455 netbooks. Activities related to liquid Windows 7 by the hand and makes it more fun than single-core models. Open despite the lack of hardware support through the GMA 3150 graphics, HD video at 720p resolution without problems and sometimes 1080p videos like Acer Aspire one d260 battery.

Those who just want to quickly browse the web, launches Android and protects the acer aspire one d255 battery. For longer trips on the Internet or working with “Microsoft Office 2010 Starter ‘provides Windows 7, the usual qualities. The idea of ??a simplified, alternative operating system is not new, but the only Android.

Dell Inspiron 1440 Problems

Posted by admin on October 24th, 2011

Q:”

I have a dell inspiron 1440, os windows 7. i tried to turn it on today and i got the “launch startup repair” or “start windows normally”, neither option got me anywhere.

All i can do is the following:

A) start windows normally. which will show me the black screen with the windows logo and says “starting windows”. if i leave it and do nothing, i go back to the “launch startup repair” or “start windows normally” black screen and the cycle can be started over. (and over and over).

B) do the “launch startup repair”. this brings me to a gradated royal/light blue screen with a light white wispy design in the background, a small green branch with leaves and a white bird. the cursor appears, along with a blue circle (showing me that i’m waiting for the next thing to happen), eventually the circle disappears. and then nothing happens. no repair, no popup windows showing any activity = just a blue birdy wispy screen of nothingness.(dell inspiron 1440 battery)

I have no idea what to do. i have a dell drivers and utilities disc and a dell operating system re-installation dvd (win 7 home premium 64-bit).

A:”

How can i unlock a dell inspiron laptop? i tried f8 and safe mode but i brought me back to putting a password?

Answer:-

Which system do you use?

On windows xp, try this:

Boot computer and press ctrl+alt+delete twice when you see windows welcome screen / login screen. it’ll show classic login box. now type “administrator” (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press enter and you should be able to login windows.(inspiron 1440 battery)

Now you can reset your account password from “control panel -> user accounts”.

If that doesn’t or you use windows 7 or vista, try this:

1. enter a computer that can link to internet. download windows password recovery tool 3.0 and install the software on that computer.

2. run the software and create windows password reset disk by follow the instructions.

3. eject the created cd/dvd and insert it into the locked computer.

4. reboot the locked computer (it’s necessary for you to change your locked computer’s bios setting to make it boot from cd drive) and then follow the instructions to reset your password.

5. now login windows and set a new password.

Dell Vostro 1710 Battery not charging on AC power

Posted by admin on September 9th, 2011

Hi, my Dell Vostro 1710 Battery has recently been undergoing issues with charging the battery. When the AC adapter is unplugged and a percentage of dell Vostro 1710 battery is lost, the battery will not recharge once the adapter is plugged in again. The battery power hovers at the percentage that it was prior to plugging in the adapter. When I roll over the dell vostro 1710 battery icon in the system tray, the balloon reads “95% available (plugged in, not charging)”.

Also, when powering up, a screen comes up saying “The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance the power available. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter.”

I have also done a Vostro 1710 Battery test to try and diagnose the problem. When I press the button on the battery, all 5 lights on the battery clearly light up (which I understand translates that the battery is in normal working order). I can assume that it is not a problem with the Dell Vostro 1710 Battery nor the motherboard, leaving me thinking that it is the AC adapter. I also recently flashed the BIOS (today) and am now using revision A15 (latest for the VOSTRO 1710).

This has only become a problem recently. As a full-time student, this greatly hinders my ability to efficiently do my work; I cannot always find an outlet to plug in my adapter. It seems as though this has become a desktop, having to find an outlet wherever I do my work.

A:

“It seems that your laptop AC adapter is fried and you need a new one.

I think you should try to find out if your problem could be solved under the extended warranty on Dell’s Vostro 1710 range. I know they extended it by 12 months but limited to problems related to NVIDIA cards. Presumably, overheating that killed your AC adapter can be related to the nvidia card problem.

I’m still looking for the official DELL stance on that. Just be warned that you need to know your facts before calling DELL support. Also, another reason for you to know about the extended warranty is that a dead AC adapter possibly can be not the last of your problems (a fried motherboard is). My Dell AC adapter died a couple of months before the whole thing died.

Anyway, I’m still looking for someone who knows more than me about hardware to explain how failing AC adapters in the Vostro 1710 are related to dying montherboards and NVIDIA cards.

Hope it helps in some way.”

A2

“I finally found the answer I’d suspected all along:

The cause is a faulty adapter ‘design flaw’ Dell should take responsibility for!

When Dell knew of the problem they should have notified all customers and offered a recall or at least a permanent solution. But it seems to me instead, Dell just sits on a large stock of those faulty adapters and is handing them out to anyone within warranty. When your laptop warranty runs out you’re forced to by the correct (90W or higher) sold by ‘Dell’. And that’s only if you catch the problem before it fries your motherboard.

Here’s why the AC Adapters / Motherboards for a range of DELL Laptops keep dying on so many good customers:

The design of the hardware circuitry for identification of the DELL AC Adapter is seriously flawed. The root cause is the use of an UNSHIELDED cable between the controller chip on the Mother board and the ID chip pin in the dell AC adapter.

This unshielded lead acts as an ANTENNA and easily picks up electromagnetic pollution going straight to the chip circuitry. The hardware circuitry is not hardened to deal with electromagnetic fields.

Consequently this energy is dissipated in the chips on each end of the lead ruining either one chip or both chips if the electromagnetic spike was powerful enough.

So use dell laptop battery warranty to the max, this is a serious design fault. If outside warranty consider using a shielded lead or try to stay away from strong electromagnetic fields / switching.”

How to Buy a New Laptop Battery

Posted by admin on July 28th, 2011

The primary advantage of a laptop is that it allows the user to bring her computer with her wherever she goes, possibly bringing Internet access as well. However, as computers become more compact and faster, one thing seems to stay constant. The computer will more than likely outlast the laptop battery that powers it. If the battery dies, then the computer isn’t as useful, because it will need to be plugged in at all times in order to function. The way to solve this is to purchase a new battery for the laptop.

Instructions

1 Look at the bottom of your laptop and write down the laptop’s model number and brand. Then remove the battery from its slot and write down the model number of the battery itself and the type such as lithium-ion or nickel metal hydride. The documents that came with the computer, such as the invoice, warranty card or information document, might provide other useful information such as an order number and/or customer number and proof and time of purchase.

2 Check the website of the company that made your computer. If your dell inspiron 1520 battery died before its time, or is still under warranty, you might be able to get a new battery free direct from the manufacturer. If you can’t order it online, locate the company’s customer service phone number and call.

3 Go to the store from which you purchased the computer. Tell the store clerk the information about the computer and see if the store sells replacement batteries. If you purchased an extended warranty plan, it might cover a replacement inspiron 1564 battery.

4 Go to a computer service business with the information about your computer. The clerk or technician might be able to locate one for you or have them in stock.

5 Stores that specialize in electronic services or batteries such as Radio Shack, Batteries Plus or Interstate Batteries might have your laptop battery as well. You can also find some battery companies online.

The battery in a laptop, will usually last anywhere from 18 to 36 months. This span is the expected life of a battery with no extra steps taken by the user. But if you take a little extra time and care of your power source, you might be able to extend the life of your laptop battery or at the very least, improve the performance of the day to day life of about battery.

1 If you are not going to use the laptop for several days, take the vostro 1200 battery out of the computer.

2 Keep the laptop and the battery in a comfortable temperature. Exposure to high heat or extreme cold can damage the battery; not to mention the laptop.

3 Once a month, allow the battery to drain completely. Make sure you have saved all your work and leave no programs open while draining the battery.

4 Be sure to have the power adapter plugged into a surge protector, not just a wall outlet.

5 Do not constantly leave the power adapter plugged in. When the adapter is plugged in, the sony vgp-bps21 battery is constantly being charged. This is taxing on the battery’s life span.

Acer Laptop Battery Not Charging

Posted by admin on July 10th, 2011

http://www.cheapbatteryshop.co.uk

Greetings all, I’d like to share with you an interesting tidbit of information that I ran across recently. I have several customers that have purchased and been very happy with the Acer Aspire series of Netbooks. I liked them so much I even got one for myself, and I too am very pleased with this little dynamo. I’ll post a review later maybe, it really is a great machine. Especially considering the price, but now I will get back to the topic at hand.

One of these customers suddenly had a problem with the acer laptop battery not charging. In fact, the battery was non-existant, it wouldn’t charge or give an error light or really … anything. Now, the little netbook ran fine when plugged into the acer AC adapter, so that ruled that out as being bad. The logical assumption of course was that this customer simply had a dud for a battery. You know, a bad cell, and open connection, whatever it is it rendered the battery useless much quicker than it should have.

Here’s the neat part of this and the reason for this post. Before contacting Acer to get a replacement laptop battery, I did some research just to be thorough and also to get options for replacement batteries in case a longer life acer as07b41 battery was desired. What I found was that many other folk out there in the great wide open Internet were having similar problems. Again, initial thought was a run on bad batteries. However, as I read more, it seemed that a bug in the netbook firmware had cropped up and would cause the BIOS to stop recognizing the fact that there was a battery in the machine at all. Well now, isn’t that interesting?!

The information I got specifically referenced netbooks running on firmware (BIOS) versions 3305, and then suggested upgrading to the (at that time) latest version of 3309. I check the netbook that was in for service with the battery problem and found that it was actually on version 3301(!), so I upgraded to the latest version as of yesterday which was 3310. Now, here is where I have to be honest with all you folk and tell you that in my case, this did not fix the problem. I was really hopeful that it would, but no dice. Why am I posting this then, if it didn’ t work? Good question! In my research, among the forum posts and websites and such that talked of performing these BOIS updates for this problem, the majority of the folk reported success with the procedure. I’d say probably 75% to 80% had the update fix the acer laptop battery problem after all, and did not have to purchase (or submit for warranty and wait for) a new acer aspire one battery.

All this being said, I am going to file this tidbit away for future reference. If I run across this problem again, be it with my own netbook or another customer unit, this is a fast and easy thing to try, and if it solves the problem even half the time it will be worth it. Now, you know about it too so you can add this to your kit for when you run across this problem too. You never know, it might save you some time and buckage some day. Enjoy!

Tips Maximizing Dell Laptop Battery Life

Posted by admin on July 9th, 2011

Condition the battery When you purchase your Dell Inspiron Laptop Batteries, charge the Dell battery to 100 percent, discharge it completely, and then fully charge it to 100 percent again to help the laptop battery computer dell laptop remember exactly how much electrical charge it can hold. From then on, you’ll never need to completely discharge the dell vostro 1310 battery again, but always make sure when charging it that you let it reach 100 percent. DeHoop told us to “remember to plug in the dell AC adapter (or dock/port replicator) whenever you get a chance. Most notebooks will recharge quickly.” Salinas had another tip for your batteries: “Keep them cool. Exposure to high temperatures can be a dell xps m1530 battery ‘s worst enemy,” he said.

Decrease hard drive activity To minimize the frequency with which your hard disk has to spin up to access data, Salinas recommended defragmenting your hard drive regularly. This optimizes the placement of data on the drive so that it can be found more quickly. You can find the Disk Degfragmenter in the Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools menu. Beyond that, he advised optimizing Windows’ paging file, which is an area of the hard drive that serves as virtual memory whenever your RAM is full. To change it, go to the Control Panel and click through System/Advanced/Performance Settings/Advanced/Virtual Memory Change and set both the initial and maximum paging file size to 1.5 times the capacity of the installed memory.

Disable startup items Startup items load into memory every time Windows boots up, which causes other open applications to spill over into virtual memory and adds to the CPU load. You can disable the startup options by opening the associated programs and going to the Options or Preferences menu. You can also remove them from the Start/Programs/Startup folder or by clicking Start/Run, entering C:MSCONFIG, and clicking OK. Select the Startup tab and clear the checkbox beside any unnecessary background items, like qttask (QuickTime).

Don’t use any external devices. USB and PC-Cards (aka PC-MCIA) use your dell xps m1330 battery to function, even when you aren’t using them! Have an EVDO card or maybe a USB mouse? Remove them if you can. Even a memory card reader in your PC-MCIA slot uses power just by being in there. The effect varies based on the type of device, but even a few minutes here and there (as you’ll see) add up significantly.

Power down the display “You can often yield up to ten minutes of dell laptop battery life per level of brightness lowered,” said Salinas. DeHoop added that lowering the brightness “may give you as much as an extra hour of runtime.” In addition, lowering the screen resolution and color depth decreases the workload on the GPU, thus extending the battery runtime. You can change these by going to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Display and clicking the Settings tab. Disabling extra features like ClearType fonts and fade effects will cut down on the CPU’s power consumption. You can find these in the Control Panel under System/Advanced/Performance Settings/Visual Effects.

Single-task, not multi-task. The more you are doing at the same time with your PC, the more memory and CPU usage increases. Both of which directly use up dell inspiron 1525 battery. Close any applications you aren’t using, even the small ones. When doing some experimentation, I found it more efficient to run a single application at a time, then close it and open a new one when ready to move on. While your hard drive uses the battery too, if you are doing anything ‘productive’ you are probably hitting the drive on a regular (even if infrequent) basis anyway.

Turn off unused devices Both of our gurus mentioned disabling unused devices. Many new notebooks provide a hard-wired On/Off switch for the Wi-Fi radio for this reason. Beyond that, you should go to the Control Panel, select System/Hardware/Device Manager, and disable the Ethernet adapter, infrared transceiver, and Bluetooth radio (if your notebook has one). It was designed for mobile devices, but having Bluetooth enabled actually consumes quite a bit of power.

Keep it cool. You can take a page out of the extreme gamer’s handbooks, and have your system perform more optimally by keeping it cool. Make sure your air vents (inflow and outflow) aren’t blocked by anything, which often occurs by poorly positioning your notebook on your lap (which is known to have some other side-effects too, by the way). Heavy CPU and memory use all contribute to heat as well, hence my comment on multi-tasking above.
