Laptop batteries should be cared for properly to sustain a longer life. At most, a laptop battery’s lifespan is from three to five years. If not cared for correctly, you may have to replace it after just a few months of use. Therefore, you must understand the proper care for laptop batteries.

Instructions

1 Make sure that your laptop is properly ventilated when in use. Check air vents. Do not place or use it on surfaces that avoid air from penetrating and leaving freely. The laptop must always remain cool, including its battery. Do not leave your laptop battery exposed to too much heat nor in freezing temperature. This can damage the battery and the laptop. Hot batteries are drained more quickly, while cold ones do not generate much power. Keep it in a place with an average temperature.

2 Place your laptop in a clean area, free from dirt and dust. Dust may find its way into your unit and can cause damage that will hinder it from working effectively, including the battery. Avoid locations near any kind of liquid that could spill.

3 Avoid using the laptop on battery when power is nearly drained. Recharge it before becoming fully drained. Draining the battery repeatedly may cause irreparable damage (See tip #1).

4 Do not plug your laptop charger directly into a power outlet. Use a power adapter, UPS or voltage regulator when recharging your laptop battery.
