There are times you may decide to completely drain your laptop battery. You may be reconditioning or calibrating the battery, or you may be draining the battery to store, ship or travel with the battery. Regardless of your reason, laptop batteries can be drained one of two ways. You can use the battery until it dies, or you can set the laptop to stay on until the battery dies.

Drain Battery Through Use
1.Remove the power adapter by pulling the jack from the outlet on the side of the laptop.
2.Power on the laptop.

Drain Battery Through Computer Settings: Microsoft Windows 98, ME, XP and 2000
4.Click “Start” on the taskbar and select “Control Panel.” Choose “Category View.”

6.Select “Always On” from the drop-down menu under Power Schemes. Under the always on power schemes value, select “Never” for all of the options in the running batteries column. Click “Apply” to save the settings.The replacement dell laptop battery.
7.Remove the power adapter from the computer. Leave the computer alone until it turns off. Once the computer turns off, the battery has completely drained.
8.Navigate to your power options settings to change the settings back to your default values when you eventually turn the computer back on for use.

10.Type “power” in the Search field and hit “Enter.” Double-click “Power Options” from the list.
11.Click “Create A Power Plan” on the left side. Type “Calibrator” in the plan name field and press “Enter.”

13.Remove the Toshiba AC power adapter and allow the battery to drain until the battery drains and the laptop shuts off.
