It is important to know how to troubleshoot your LAN adapter.

For many years Samsung has been a popular name in the field of computers and other electronics. The network cards the company makes are widely used in a number of different computer models. While most of the time these LAN adapters will work quite well, it is important for computer users to know how to troubleshoot those adapters when they stop working.

1. Log on to your computer and click on the “Start” button. Choose “Run” from the menu and type “cmd” in the box.

2. Wait for the DOS window to open and type “ipconfig” at the prompt. If you see a “media disconnected” message or fail to get a valid IP address, check the network cable running into your Samsung LAN adapter. Make sure the cable is seated fully in the port.

3. Type “ipconfig /release all” at the prompt. Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T This will force the network adapter to disconnect. Wait for a few minutes and then type “ipconfig /renew all.” This will force the network to attempt to reconnect.

4. Right-click on the “My Computer” icon and click the “Hardware” tab. Click on the “Device Manager” button and click the plus sign next to the network adapter section.

5. Look for a yellow question mark or a red exclamation point. These are indicators that the network adapter is not working properly. Right-click on the network adapter and choose “Update driver” from the menu to force the operating system to download an updated driver.

6. Log on to the Samsung website and download the latest driver for your Samsung adapter if the operating system fails to install it. Then go back to the Device Manager window and make sure there is no question mark or exclamation point next to the network adapter.
